Designing a More Human Digital Experience for Suicide Prevention Support
The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lehigh County website was designed to create a more compassionate, human-centered digital experience for individuals, families, and communities seeking support, education, and connection around suicide prevention and loss support.
For the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lehigh County, the goal was to create a digital experience that felt calm, compassionate, and emotionally accessible while supporting critical community resources, education, and outreach efforts.
“The project included website strategy, visual direction, UX planning, interface design, and the creation of a custom watercolor illustration system developed specifically for the initiative.”Rather than relying on literal or overly clinical imagery, the visual approach focused on softness, atmosphere, and emotional space. Hand-painted watercolor textures and illustrations were integrated throughout the site to support themes of healing, connection, vulnerability, and hope while maintaining a modern and approachable user experience. The website was designed to support multiple audiences, including individuals seeking immediate help, loss survivors, families, educators, volunteers, and community organizations. Special attention was given to accessibility, clarity of navigation, emotional tone, and creating pathways to support resources without overwhelming users.
